Why We Publish Our Prices

Most urgent care clinics don’t publish pricing. We do. Because when you’re uninsured or have a high-deductible plan, you deserve to know what your visit will cost before you walk through the door.

At Monarch Medicine, every self-pay patient receives an automatic 30% discount. There are no facility fees, no surprise charges, and no bill arriving weeks later for a service nobody mentioned. Dr. Clay discusses all costs and options with you during your visit.

"Healthcare pricing shouldn’t be a mystery. If you’re paying out of pocket, you should know exactly what you’re paying for. That’s why we post our prices publicly and discuss costs with every patient." — Dr. Lisa Clay, MD, FAAFP

Founder & Medical Director

Board-Certified Family Physician

Fellow, American Academy of Family Physicians

Dr. Clay founded Monarch Medicine in May 2024 with a simple conviction: urgent care should feel like you’re seeing your own doctor — not a rotating cast of providers who don’t know your name. She sees every patient personally, owns the practice alongside her husband Todd, and has built a team that reflects her commitment to compassionate, physician-led care.

CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE

Transparent Self-Pay Urgent Care Visit Pricing Starting at $150

Education & Training

Board-certified in Family Medicine. Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP). Nearly two decades of clinical experience spanning family medicine, urgent care, and hospital medicine.

Clinical Scope

Illness and injury evaluation, on-site X-ray interpretation, laceration repair, fracture management, pediatric urgent care, women’s health, sports physicals, DOT physicals, TB testing, STD screening, and wellness injections (VIB, NAD+).

Philosophy

Dr. Clay believes every patient deserves to be seen by the same physician who knows their history, listens without rushing, and explains the plan in plain language. She founded Monarch Medicine to deliver the kind of care she’d want for her own family.

"I left the hospital system because I wanted to practice medicine the way it should be practiced — where I know every patient by name, where I have time to listen, and where I make the clinical decisions. That’s what Monarch Medicine is."

— Dr. Lisa Clay, MD, FAAFP

What Makes Monarch Medicine Different

  • Physician-owned, not hospital-owned. Dr. Clay owns and operates this clinic. She answers to patients, not corporate administrators.
  • Same doctor every visit. You’ll see Dr. Clay — not a rotating cast of providers. She knows your history, your family, and your concerns.
  • On-site X-ray & lab. Digital X-ray with same-day results and comprehensive lab testing — no referral needed.
  • Transparent pricing. Self-pay rates published. No surprise bills. 30% discount for uninsured patients.
  • Epic/MyChart integrated. Your visit records sync with the same system used by IU Health, Community Health, and most Indiana hospitals.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Self-Pay Pricing FAQ

What does an urgent care visit cost without insurance?

A new patient visit starts at $153.30 and an established patient visit starts at $105.70. These prices reflect our 30% self-pay discount. Cost may increase based on medical complexity, which Dr. Clay discusses with you before treatment.

Do I have to pay at the time of my visit?

Yes. Payment is due at time of service. We accept cash, credit card, debit card, HSA, FSA, and Zelle.

Can I just walk in for a test or X-ray without seeing the doctor?

No. Every test, X-ray, and procedure at Monarch Medicine requires a physician evaluation first. Dr. Clay examines you, determines what testing is appropriate, and orders it based on clinical findings. This is how quality medicine works — and it protects you from unnecessary tests.

Is this cheaper than the emergency room?

Significantly. The average ER visit in Indiana costs $2,200 or more — before any tests or imaging. A comparable visit at Monarch Medicine with a physician exam, rapid test, and X-ray typically costs $250–$400 total. That's a savings of 60–80%.

Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?

Yes. Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards are accepted for all services.

What if I have insurance but want to pay out of pocket?

You can choose to self-pay even if you have insurance. Some patients prefer this for privacy (such as STD testing) or because their deductible is high enough that the self-pay rate is less than what they'd owe through insurance. Let us know at check-in and we'll explain both options.

Do you accept Medicaid or Humana?

We are not in network with Medicaid or Humana. Self-pay rates are available for patients with these plans. All other major insurance plans are accepted — see our insurance page for the full list.
