WHEN TO GET TESTED

Who Should Get Tested for STDs?

The CDC recommends STD screening for many groups even without symptoms, because most STDs can be present without any noticeable signs. Visit Monarch Medicine if:

  • ✓ You’ve had unprotected sex
  • ✓ A partner has been diagnosed with an STD
  • ✓ You’re experiencing symptoms (discharge, burning, sores, pain)
  • ✓ You’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant
  • ✓ You haven’t been tested in the past year

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

STD Testing FAQ

Is STD testing at Monarch Medicine confidential?

Yes. Your visit and results are HIPAA-protected and handled with strict confidentiality. We do not share results with partners, employers, or family members without your consent.

Do I need to have symptoms to get tested?

No. Most STDs can be present without symptoms. The CDC recommends routine screening for sexually active individuals regardless of symptoms. If you have concerns, walk in — no symptoms required.

How long do STD test results take?

Most results are available within 1–3 business days. Some rapid tests may provide results faster. Our office will contact you with results and treatment recommendations if needed.

Will STD testing show up on my insurance?

If you use insurance, the visit may appear on your explanation of benefits (EOB). Many patients choose self-pay for added privacy. Self-pay pricing for STD testing is published and reviewed with you at check-in.

Can you treat STDs on-site?

Yes. For treatable infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis, a Monarch physician can prescribe treatment when clinically appropriate once results are confirmed. For conditions requiring ongoing management (HIV, herpes, hepatitis), we provide initial care and referral to a specialist.

How is this different from an at-home STD test kit?

A physician evaluates your symptoms in person, orders the right tests for your situation, provides treatment when clinically appropriate, and answers your questions directly. If results are positive, you’re already connected with a physician who knows your case — no starting over with a stranger.

Do you accept insurance for STD testing?

Yes. We accept most major insurance plans including Anthem, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna. We are not in network with Medicaid or Humana. Self-pay is also available for patients who prefer not to use insurance. Visit our self-pay pricing page.

PATIENT REVIEWS

What Our Patients Say

★★★★★

"The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring when I brought my daughter in. They created a welcoming environment with coffee, water, and snacks in the waiting area, which was a thoughtful touch. I also really appreciated their clear in-office pricing. They bill insurance but also offer very reasonable cash-pay options, which provides peace of mind compared to the unpredictable costs of an ER visit. Most importantly, the experience felt personal rather than rushed. Highly recommend if you’re looking for compassionate, patient-centered care."

— Brit

★★★★★

"Dr. Clay is great, always nice and makes sure I’m up to date on any questions I may have. Nurse Olivia is always happy and smiling. It’s a great place!!!"

★★★★★

"Going to this Urgent Care is like visiting my own doctor…not your typical urgent care facility. This is my second visit in less than a year upon someone’s recommendation. Virtually no wait and Dr Clay really listened and got to the root of my problem. Highly recommend!"
