If you’re Googling “does MinuteClinic have X-ray” before driving to CVS, the short answer is no. CVS MinuteClinic locations — including both Carmel locations at 1421 S. Range Line Rd and 13090 Petigru Dr — do not have on-site X-ray, cannot diagnose fractures, cannot perform stitches, and cannot treat most injuries that require imaging.

When MinuteClinic Is Fine
I’ll be honest — MinuteClinic is a reasonable option for certain things. If you have a straightforward sore throat, need a rapid strep test, or want a flu test with a simple prescription, a MinuteClinic visit can work. Their nurse practitioners are trained to handle these protocol-driven encounters.
The problem is when your condition falls outside that protocol. A sore throat with neck swelling, a cough that’s lasted three weeks, an ear infection in a toddler who’s had four this year — these require clinical judgment, not a screening algorithm. And if you need any imaging, labs beyond basic panels, or a procedure, you’ll be referred out anyway.
When You Need More Than MinuteClinic Can Offer
Come to Monarch Medicine instead of MinuteClinic if:
- You might need an X-ray. Ankle injuries, wrist falls, chest pain workup, suspected fractures — we image and diagnose in one visit.
- You need stitches or wound care. Cuts, lacerations, puncture wounds — we do sutures, staples, and wound glue on-site.
- Your child has a recurring or complex condition. Fourth ear infection this year? Recurring strep? A physician evaluation identifies patterns a protocol doesn’t catch.
- You want to see a physician, not an NP following a checklist. Dr. Clay evaluates every patient. Clinical decisions are based on exam findings, not a dropdown menu.
- You need your records in Epic/MyChart. Your visit syncs with IU Health, Community Health, and most Indiana hospital systems. MinuteClinic uses a separate system.
- You need TB testing, comprehensive STD panels, or sports physicals. MinuteClinic doesn’t offer these. We do — walk-in, same-day.
