SAME-VISIT URGENT CARE PROCEDURES · CARMEL, INDIANA
Same-Visit Procedures & In-Office Treatments in Carmel
We finish what we start whenever it is safe and appropriate.
Some urgent care visits need more than advice and a prescription. When it is safe to treat in-office, we can clean and close wounds, apply splints, give stocked medications, perform X-rays, and help you leave with a clear plan.
Monarch is built for same-visit urgent care procedures: digital X-ray, wound repair, splinting, IM medications, nebulizer treatment, ear lavage, EKG, and foreign body removal.

WHAT WE REFER OUT — AND WHERE TO GO
Where We Send You for the Rest
No urgent care does everything well. Here is what we do not handle in-office:
Major fractures and complex orthopedic injuries → Emergency room or orthopedic specialist. We splint and refer for definitive care.
IV fluids and IV medications → Emergency room or infusion center. Monarch does not run IV lines.
Vaccines beyond Tdap → Pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Kroger) for flu, COVID, MMR, Varicella, Hep B. We draw immunity titers in-office.
Travel vaccines (yellow fever, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis) → IU Health Travel Clinic or Passport Health.
Annual physicals, wellness exams, blood pressure or blood sugar monitoring for chronic disease → Your primary care doctor. Monarch is urgent care, not PCP.
Emergency conditions (chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe allergic reaction, severe respiratory distress, major trauma) → Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Procedures requiring sedation or operating room → Surgical specialist. Monarch handles outpatient procedures only.
If you came in expecting one of these, we want you to know before you make the trip.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Same-Visit Procedures FAQ
Do I need an appointment for a procedure?
No. Walk in any time during open hours. For complex procedures or pro physicals, calling ahead helps us prepare. Many common procedures — including stitches, splinting, IM injections, and X-ray — can often be handled during a walk-in visit when safe and appropriate.
How long does a procedure take?
Most procedures add 15 to 30 minutes to a typical urgent care visit. Suturing, splinting, and X-ray are common same-visit completions. Total visit time depends on what you need.
Will my insurance cover an in-office procedure?
Many medically necessary procedures may be covered when billed through insurance, but coverage depends on your plan, deductible, and benefits. We are in network with Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare, Aetna, Cigna, and Encore/IU Health Plans. Self-pay rates are also available.
Do you do major procedures or surgery?
No. Monarch handles outpatient procedures only. We do not perform anything requiring sedation, an operating room, or surgical specialist care. We refer to the appropriate specialist when those are needed.
Can you give me an injection my doctor prescribed?
In some cases, yes — if it is a medication we stock. Call (317) 804-4203 first to verify before you come in. We do not administer medications we have not stocked.
Do you do IV fluids?
No. Monarch does not run IV lines. For IV hydration or IV medications, the emergency room or an infusion center is the right place.
What if my X-ray shows something serious?
A Monarch physician reviews your X-ray images with you and explains what we are seeing. A radiologist's final read follows after the visit, and timing may vary. If something needs urgent specialist or ER attention, we will refer or transfer you that visit.
