- ✓ Syphilis
- ✓ HIV (rapid and standard testing)
- ✓ Herpes (HSV-1 and HSV-2)

PHYSICIAN-SUPERVISED TESTING
Private, Professional, and Judgment-Free
We understand that getting tested for STDs can feel uncomfortable. At Monarch Medicine, Dr. Lisa Clay, MD ensures every patient is treated with dignity, respect, and complete confidentiality. Your results are HIPAA-protected and shared only with you.
Unlike at-home test kits, physician-supervised testing means Dr. Clay can evaluate your symptoms in person, order the right tests based on your specific situation, provide immediate treatment for treatable infections, and answer your questions face-to-face. If your results require follow-up, you’re already connected with a physician who knows your case.
"There’s no reason to feel embarrassed about getting tested — it’s one of the most responsible things you can do for yourself and your partner. My goal is to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible." — Dr. Lisa Clay, MD, Owner & Medical Director
WHEN TO GET TESTED
Who Should Get Tested for STDs?
The CDC recommends STD screening for many groups even without symptoms, because most STDs can be present without any noticeable signs. Visit Monarch Medicine if:
- ✓ You have a new sexual partner
- ✓ You have multiple sexual partners
- ✓ You’ve had unprotected sex
- ✓ A partner has been diagnosed with an STD
- ✓ You’re experiencing symptoms (discharge, burning, sores, pain)
- ✓ You’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant
- ✓ You haven’t been tested in the past year
- ✓ You want peace of mind
No symptoms required. Many STDs are asymptomatic. Routine screening is the only way to know your status.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
STD Tests We Offer — Full Panel Options
Is STD testing at Monarch Medicine confidential?
Completely. Your visit and results are HIPAA-protected and shared only with you. We do not contact partners, employers, or anyone else without your explicit consent.
Do I need to have symptoms to get tested?
No. Most STDs can be present without symptoms. The CDC recommends routine screening for sexually active individuals regardless of symptoms. If you have concerns, walk in — no symptoms required.
How long do STD test results take?
Most results are available within 1–3 business days. Some rapid tests may provide results faster. Dr. Clay’s office will contact you with results and treatment recommendations if needed.
Will STD testing show up on my insurance?
If you use insurance, the visit may appear on your explanation of benefits (EOB). Many patients choose self-pay for complete privacy. We offer transparent self-pay pricing for all STD tests.
Can you treat STDs on-site?
Yes. For treatable STDs like chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis, Dr. Clay prescribes antibiotics during the results appointment. For conditions requiring ongoing management (HIV, herpes, hepatitis), she provides initial treatment and referral to a specialist.
How is this different from an at-home STD test kit?
At-home kits have higher error rates and provide no physician guidance. At Monarch Medicine, Dr. Clay evaluates your symptoms in person, orders the right tests for your situation, provides immediate treatment when needed, and answers your questions directly. If results are positive, you’re already connected with a physician.
Do you accept insurance for STD testing?
Yes. We accept most major insurance plans including Anthem, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna. We are not in network with Medicaid or Humana. Self-pay is also available for patients who prefer not to use insurance. Visit our self-pay pricing page.
PATIENT REVIEWS
What Our Patients Say
★★★★★
"The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring when I brought my daughter in. They created a welcoming environment with coffee, water, and snacks in the waiting area, which was a thoughtful touch. I also really appreciated their transparent pricing. They bill insurance but also offer very reasonable cash-pay options, which provides peace of mind compared to the unpredictable costs of an ER visit. Most importantly, the experience felt personal rather than rushed. Highly recommend if you’re looking for compassionate, patient-centered care."
— Brit

★★★★★
"Going to this Urgent Care is like visiting my own doctor…not your typical urgent care facility. This is my second visit in less than a year upon someone’s recommendation. Virtually no wait and Dr Clay really listened and got to the root of my problem. Highly recommend!"
